Marjoram oil was one of the first aromatics I acquired when I started my essential oil collection. It’s very versatile, and it’s served me well. Even though most beginners probably don’t buy this oil right away, I was glad I did.
To me, it smells somewhat like lavender, and it seems to be used for some of the same purposes, such as relaxation and fighting infections. It’s also an aromatic that’s abundant, so sweet marjoram should be reasonably priced.
I first used sweet marjoram on a knee injury that never healed right. This was something that happened years ago in Mexico, when I fell and twisted my knee. It did help, but nowadays I use a special aromatic blend designed for pain, if my knee injury happens to flare up. Sometimes, I also have nerve pain, which I treat with natural essential oils instead of OTC or prescription drugs.

Sweet Marjoram Essential Oil Benefits
Marjoram oil is considered a good choice when you have an upper respiratory infection. You can put it in a diffuser, or you can use it for massage. However, if you plan to apply it to your skin, make sure it’s diluted. That’s because essential oils are too strong to apply straight. So they must be mixed with a carrier oil first. (I use olive, grapseed, coconut and rosehip as carriers.)
Insomniacs who use essential oils to help them sleep might want to include marjoram into the mix, as it appears to contain natural sedatives. Essential oils used for this purpose seem to work better when they are rotated, or at least they do for me. It’s also a good idea to rotate your oils to potentially reduce the likelihood of becoming sensitized to a particular plant extract.
It’s also believed that marjoram is good for your digestion. But don’t take it internally. Massaging it on your abdomen is a much better way to go.
The oil shown here is made by Plant Therapy. I’m convinced this company is one of the best out there, which is why I’m a repeat customer. It’s a good option to the MLM oils, if you don’t like to shop through a multilevel marketing model. All of the oils sold by Plant Therapy are rigorously tested for purity. Shipping is free for this oil.
